Some decades ago you could still see sheets with satirical content and anonymously written in public places. This type of leaves are the pasquines.
The purpose of the pasquines is to criticize some aspect of reality, especially life politics. The author keeps his identity, since the scathing criticisms of him can lead to some kind of problem.
The lampoon is a media eminently popular and must be framed in the street context.
The new lampoons
Place a sheet with content critical or humorous in a public place is something that nowadays is very rare, since there are other more effective means to spread one's ideas. However, sporadically pasquines appear and in them a complaint is exposed and at the end of the text an indication appears about their perpetrators (for example, outraged neighbors, subway users in struggle, etc.).
Twitter, Facebook and the new communication channels have become platforms that allow posting all kinds of messages with which it is possible to reach millions of people
The traditional pasquin has become a relic of the dying past.
Even though this Format It is already part of history, the underlying idea continues in force, since the human being needs to express his ideas with Libertyregardless of the medium you use for it. In this sense, the new memes and pasquines share a certain likeness, since both are anonymous, have a satirical purpose and represent a form of expression eminently popular.
The historical origin
In the ancient city of Rome there was a statue that was popularly known as "Pasquino". He received this name because the ancient Romans said that he resembled a very popular character named Pasquino.
The pedestal of the statue began to be used to paste writings of protest or satirical content. In this way, ordinary people had a "platform" to express their ideas and at the same time remain anonymous.
If we walk near the Piazza Navona in the city of Rome we can find the statue of Pasquino (it was installed in this location from the XVl century). It is a worn statue and in it a mutilated man appears (it is not known who exactly the real Pasquino was and there are different versions of it). In any case, the traditional pasquines are still placed at the foot of the statue.
