With three genuflections the teuctlis boarded
the throne; each teuctli carried his treasure:
Lord, my Lord, then great Lord, they exclaimed,
and they left, waving their golden hooves.
Author: Amado Nervo.
Example 2: A LOST VALLEY
The memory grunts across the dark roof,
he wanders through the mist with steps of patent leather,
gray down in the wind, tidal toy,
Wanderer kite, tired snail.
The memory rests, dozes, nods,
thought dwells on the edge of the sun,
glacial mute witness, efficient executor
of the internal alembic, of the human crucible.
When he emits his voice, he raises the moan,
the chords of a longed-for song explode
and the stone echoes of him are bitter throbbing.
When he stokes his fire, oblivion flashes,
metals melt with spikenard of passion
and the ashes veil the whole lost valley.
Example 3.- YESTERDAY
It's already a long timethat I look for his face,
it's been many yearsthat I live sad,
it's been many years nowthat i'm sick
And it's for a kiss that you gave me!
