Farmhouse is the name given to those extensive estates with buildings for housing and exploitation of the agriculture that surrounds the place, which are typical and characteristic of the regions of Andalusia and Extremadura in Spain. The great apogee observed by this type of buildings in the middle of the field occurred during the century XVIII. Meanwhile, those who live and work in the farmhouses are called farmhouses.
The motivation of the farmhouse has been to respond to the needs of a large farm, that is, one that combines on the one hand a system of rotation crops, to which a special and main attention, with a production complementary livestock that contributes animals to the work that is carried out, allows the dunging of the soils and of course from which a rent extra to be taken advantage of.
With the creation of the farmhouse, solution to a problem of years, such as the absenteeism of the workers, because from the farmhouse it was no longer necessary for the
employee retire and return every day, but could reside there in order to make the work of the estate.Among the main dependencies of the farmhouse, the following stand out: the kitchen, meanwhile, the landlords and the workers considered more qualified, they had a private room, obviously built on the basis of criteria absolutely austere. On the other hand, austerity was not part of the owner's home, if there was one, it had greater comfort and quality With respect to the other dependencies, it was located independently, although in some place it had a connection with the rest of the farmhouse. At the base of the farmhouse was the patio, closed in the front and around it were all the livestock buildings, storage areas and barns. Other very common dependencies in the farmhouses were the carpentry shops and the workshops.
