Considered one of the most beautiful and interesting countries in Latin America, Costa Rica is a country located in the central part of the continent, sharing its borders with Nicaragua and Panama to the north and south respectively. In addition, it is one of the countries in the region that has its coasts bathed by both the Caribbean Sea and the Ocean. Pacific, which allows it to have an immense tourist interest marked by two different areas but equally beautiful. Costa Rica is a small country whose surface area barely exceeds 50 thousand square kilometers and its population it is more than 4 and a half million inhabitants. Its capital is the beautiful city of San José, which is at the same time the most important city in the country and a great tourist destination. The official language of Costa Rica is Spanish.
Costa Rica, as its name says and as it happens in most of the countries in this region, is a very colorful and green country, with an important
diversity of flora and fauna that have allowed it to become a Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The preservation of environment and of species such as the jaguar, the monkey, the armadillo, reptiles, amphibians and birds of the most diverse colors, as well as the precious orchids and conifers that cross the island, is of vital importance for Costa Ricans and that is why much of the tourism that the island receives is ecological. Many of the species found in this country are endemic to the region, which means that they cannot be found naturally in other countries.The total area of the country is administratively organized into seven territories or provinces: San José, Alajuela, Heredia, Limón, Guanacaste, Cartago and Puntarenas, to which the Isla del Coco belongs, 500 kilometers from the coast. Costa Rica, in addition to having its natural beauty, is a country highly recognized worldwide for its defense and I respect of the human rights, for having a democracy stable and for having one of the best living standards in the region, with high rates of literacy and economic growth. In addition, Costa Rica is one of the few countries in the world that has abolished its own army in favor of benefiting peace and not violence.
