The Civil War is a armed conflict that took place in what is now the United States of America and that was significant in shaping the nation American. Also known as the War Civil, this war involved the confrontation of the northern states with the southern states for not sharing similar objectives regarding the formation of the nation that was just beginning to be born after Independence from 1776. The Civil War gets its name precisely from the fact that the southern states sought to separate themselves from the rest by not accepting the northern states the use of the slavery in the productive systems of the time. The dates on which we locate ourselves for this war range from April 1861 to April 1865.

You could say that the conflict that would break out forming the Civil War comes from the time when the states of North America achieved their independence from the British Crown. When independence was established in 1776, the states had to look for ways to form a new nation and conflicts over the type of nation that interested each party began to become more and more powerful. The main dispute faced the northern or abolitionist states with the southern states, the latter approving the use of slaves on their plantations while those in the north considered that a progressive and modern nation could not approve of such a system from

abuse. Thus, the disputes were not only social but also economic and cultural since they affected the production and to the life system of each of the states. The arrival of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 to the power caused that the displeasure of the conservatives of the south increased before the appearance of a liberal leader.

The first state to secede or separate from the rest was South Carolina, followed later by others such as Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. They formed the Confederacy that would oppose states loyal to the Union: California, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Wisconsin, and many others. The war lasted several years in which both factions fought, coming to need the participation and assistance from foreign powers. Finally, the war ended up being a triumph for the northern states, which, in addition to being more numerous, had economic resources most advanced being largely the most industrialized region of the country.
