Definition of Hurricane Mitch

Hurricane Mitch has been one of the most virulent hurricanes to hit in recent years during the so-called hurricane season of the Ocean Atlantic. It was rated grade 5 for its great violence and also for the material and life damages that it caused in its development. The victims touched 20 thousand people and in terms of damages it has been calculated that their overwhelming step took about eight billion dollars.
Thousands of victims and millions of dollars of material losses
It particularly affected the region of America Central, being Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, the Yucatan Peninsula and the south of the state of Florida in USA, the countries most affected by its presence. There were almost fifteen days of presence, between October 22 and November 5, 1998, and the winds reached 285 kilometers per hour.
It originated in the Caribbean Sea and then oscillated between less and greater virulence as it progressed through the aforementioned regions. In Honduras, Nicaragua and the state of Florida it was manifested with tremendous storms that produced a record fall of
Water.TO purposeIt was the floods that these heavy and continuous rains caused that most complicated the situation, flooded areas, material damage, deaths and people who were carried away by the current and who remained missing during the climatic phenomenon, and which of course still did more dramatic the stage for the inhabitants of the affected places.
And it was Honduras and Nicaragua that suffered the worst consequences from Mitch, in Honduras, for example, the waves that he was able to unleash reached 6 meters high.
The scenario that remained behind Mitch was devastating and of course it was necessary not only to carry out a homework reconstruction but also had to deal with the thousands of victims who were left with nothing and also began to suffer from the attack of diseases such as cholera, leptospirosis and dengue.
Fortunately, the world once again showed its great solidarity faced with these catastrophes and then billions of dollars were raised to assist the victims.
