Regarding the existence or not of God, people can have different positions, for example, believers, those who believe in God have the signature conviction that there is a superior being who created the world and the human being, meanwhile, those beliefs are based mainly on their faith and what the tradition religious and dogmas propose.
On the other hand, we can find the position of the atheist, who flatly denies the existence of a god, because he says that there is no reliable, demonstrable evidence of it.
Person who does not deny or affirm the existence of God
And the agnostic who has an intermediate position between the two positions mentioned above since he does not deny or affirm the existence of God, based mainly on the fact that he cannot affirm what is not accessible to reason but neither can he deny it even though his reason cannot affirm it.
The term agnostic has two recurrent uses, on the one hand, everything will be called agnostic. that proper or related to agnosticism
and on the other hand, the word is used to refer to who professes the aforementioned doctrine. What is agnosticism?
Meanwhile, agnosticism is a philosophical or personal position that considers impossible and inaccessible for any human being the knowledge of the divine and of everything that transcends the experience or the experienceable.
Basically the reason for this is that agnosticism is a discipline which is based on experiences and observations, then everything that cannot be directly experienced or observed will be declared impossible and inaccessible.
For agnostics, the veracity and metaphysical claims such as being, God, or the afterlife turn out to be unknowable.
Agnostics consider that the concept of God cannot be reduced to true or false because the human being is not capable of affirming anything about a divinity.
This group usually believes in those ideals and approaches that it considers rationally valid and correct for the coexistence in a society and is quite skeptical about the existence of a God.
Types of agnosticism
Meanwhile, there are variations with respect to the aforementioned question depending on the degree of agnosticism that is available, that is, the weak agnosticism, closely linked to skepticism, considers that the non-existence of the aforementioned issues can be proven but that Currently there is no evidence in this regard, as can be seen, marks a doubt, which shows that intimate relationship with the skepticism; on the other hand the strong agnosticism argues that the knowledge of superior beings has not only not been achieved but will never be, that is, there are no open doors in this sense.
Then we meet him Apathetic agnosticism or apatheism that he maintains that the existence or not of superior beings is not only not possible or known but is irrelevant to the human condition. The agnostic, for the most part, believes this, that Religions are not an essential aspect of human life but they are an essential aspect of culture and history.
For his part and on the contrary of the previous one, the interested agnosticism, he yes he thinks that the knowledge of the divinities is relevant for the human being.
Meanwhile, the theistic agnostic considers that despite not having the level of understanding that allows him to believe in the existence of God, he admits that he could exist; and the atheistic agnostic recognizes that he cannot access that knowledge and is skeptical of the possibility that God may exist.
Difference between atheist and agnostic
We must emphasize that there are substantial differences between the agnostic and the atheist, although some tend to use both concepts interchangeably.
The fundamental difference lies in the fact of the consideration that each one has regarding the nature of the divine.
The agnostics although they do not affirm that God exists because they believe that this knowledge is not available through their reason, they do not risk denying it outright as do the atheists, who reject this existence in a overwhelming.
This stream of thought It has found an important diffusion throughout the world and therefore its followers are very many and some, of the most, more famous such as: Karl Popper (philosopher), Protagoras (Greek sophist), Milton Friedman (economist), Matt Groening (creator of Los Simpson), Mario Vargas Llosa (writer), Ozzy Osbourne (musician) and Michelle Bachelet (former president of Chili), among others.
