The Woodstock festival has undoubtedly been one of the most cultural, social and even political events important twentieth century since it represented a whole generation with its new values and new ways of understanding the world. The Woodstock festival was held in 1969 in the city of White Lake, in the state of New York, United States. This festival lasted three days in the month of August (15, 16 and 17) and featured some of the most important representatives of the popular music and youthful of the time. However, Woodstock was not simply a music festival but it transcended all borders, becoming the most massive and influential recital of the century.
Those responsible for Woodstock were Michael Lang, John Roberts and Joel Rosenman, among others. These producers sought to organize a festival that included the most influential musicians of the time and that, in addition to being a true musical party, would establish itself as a clear expression of protest against warmongering and wars of the time. So much so that the motto of the festival would be "3 days of
peace Y music". It is estimated that around 300 thousand people voluntarily attended the different recitals that took place day after day. The environment It was undoubtedly one of peace, of happiness, of fellowship and of love among all the attendees.Woodstock would establish itself as one of the clearest representatives of the hippie youth that was beginning to be more and more important. In this sense, Woodstock also embodied the values that everything could be solved if human beings turned to peace and love. However, it is inevitable that such a large number of people would become uncontrollable at some point and that is why the Liberty sexual and consumption drugs also characterized this festival.
Among the most important artists who attended this festival we must mention Ravi Shankar, Joan Baez, Santana, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, The Who, Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills Nash & Young and Jimi Hendrix. Many of them gained international renown from this point on. Many other personalities such as The Beatles, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell were invited to participate but declined due to different reasons.
