The words have, according to their intonation, the following classification: sharp, flat and esdrújulas. Sharp words are those in which the last syllable is pronounced the loudest. force in the voice. In other words, acute words are those that have a greater intensity in the last syllable (also called stressed syllable).
Some examples of sharp words would be the following: squid, truth, couch, after, immortal, watch... In all of them, the stressed syllable (or the syllable where the accent is placed) is the last one. However, if we look at the examples already indicated, there are some words with spelling accent or accent mark (sofa and after) and others without it (squid, truth, immortal and watch). All of them are acute words, but only some have accents or accents.
And according to the rules of spelling, acute words have a tilde if they end in a vowel, in n or s
This is the general rule of thumb accentuation sharp words, although there are a number of exceptions: monosyllable words (sun, gel, peace... as long as they do not have a double meaning, such as yes / yes, I know / I know, more / more ...), the acute ones end in no or s that are preceded by another consonant, like robots and ballets, and runny words ending in y, como soy o sweater.
Grammar is the knowledge that a language studies
It has several branches: morphology, phonology, syntax, etc. The idea of the grammar is to establish an understanding of each element or aspect that makes up a language. Words can be studied from various points of view. One of them is the analysis of the parts that make them up, the syllables. In simple language, one could say that a syllable is a complete chunk of a word.
It is important that we point out about the accentuation that it is extremely relevant when it comes to correctly decoding the messages, whether they are written or oral, since many words that are written with the same characters but with the stress on different stressed syllables, can lead to errors from interpretation of the message if it is not respected in the place it should go, that is, something totally different from what is wanted will be expressed, giving way to a communication difficulty.
When we speak we do not notice the intonation of the words
We do it in a natural way. However, the study of grammar reminds us that the intensity in the voice to say each word has its importance. In fact, when we read a new word that we have not heard before, one of its difficulties is knowing how it is pronounced, that is, which syllable of the word must be said with more force. Let's take two concrete examples, the words lunar and balcony. Both are sharp. What would happen if we put the intensity of the voice on the penultimate syllable? The answer is simple: we would not be understood by others, they would think that we are foreigners and we do not pronounce correctly or they would consider that we are ignorant.
Sharp words can be called as oxytonsHowever, this name is not very common in our language, being the acute word the one most widely used.
Regarding the rest of the words, we must mention that in addition to the acute words, we can find ourselves in our language with the serious words (the stress is placed on the penultimate syllable), the words esdrújulas (here it goes in the penultimate) and the overdrive words (The accent is placed on the one before the penultimate syllable or after the penultimate).
