This animal species is a mammal ungulate that belongs to the ruminant suborder, since its feeding It is done in two phases: first it ingests nutrients and later chews or ruminates them. There are three different species: the Bactrian has two humps and is totally domestic, the Bactrian with two humps and that has not been domesticated and that which has only one hump, the dromedary.
The desert is their natural habitat
It lives in desert areas and has fully adapted to the climatic variations of this type of ecosystem (keep in mind that in the desert the temperature ranges from -30 degrees in winter to over 40 degrees in summer).
His physiology it has evolved to achieve full accommodation to the natural physical environment. Thus, their fur is abundant to protect themselves from the cold of winter and during the summer their hair falls to better withstand the high temperatures.
As for its hump or hump, fat mounds are deposited in it, which allows accumulating a large amount of nutrients without the need to ingest
food or drink (this animal can go without food and water for several weeks). The camel's feet are fully adapted to the desert sand and the same happens with its nostrils or their eyes (the eyes have three lids and very long eyelashes that serve as protection against storms of sand). It has 34 sharp teeth and with them it can defend itself from possible predators. Their lips are extremely hard, which allows them to feed on thorn bushes.
Curiosities
According to the analyzed fossil records, they do not come from Asia or Africa but from America (the migration process took place during the ice ages in prehistory).
It is a fast animal and can reach a velocity of 65 km / h. In this sense, in Dubai camel races are held (these competitions are not accompanied by sports betting and instead of riders robots located on the animal's back are used).
Camel milk is very nutritious (compared to cow's milk, it has higher amounts of iron and higher levels of vitamin C). Shubat is a typical drink of the desert areas of Africa and Asia and is made from the fermentation of the camel's milk.
Apart from milk, this animal provides leather for the manufacture of utensils, meat for food and wool for clothing. The camel is mainly used as a means of transport, since its adaptation to the desert makes it irreplaceable.
From a historical point of view, the first written references to this animal appear in the Old Testament.
