The word pension has three different meanings: a type of establishment hotelier, an accommodation scheme for tourists and, finally, a social benefit from the state.
Living on a pension
A pension is a hotel establishment with little category, generally with few rooms (in practice the term pension and hostel are used synonymously). What rule In general, the guests of a pension share a bathroom and in some cases lunch and dinner are offered in which the managers of the establishment and the clients share a table and tablecloth.
The type of clients is different from that of a hotel conventional, since guests stay in pensions for long periods of time, even years. For this reasonIn Spain a concept was coined, living on a pension. In traditional pensions, clients become a kind of large family. The concept of living with a pension already belongs to the past and is more than just a type of accommodation, as it refers to a type of person and a environment quirky (some realistic novels have dealt with this kind of atmosphere and daily life in boarding houses).
Full board and half board
When we stay in a hotel we can choose several forms of accommodation: pay for the room, pay for the room and breakfast and, finally, hiring the room plus half board or board complete. Half board means a room, breakfast and a meal. Full board includes the room as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Types of state pensions.
When someone finishes their work stage they have right to perceive a remuneration monthly state pension, which is called the retirement pension (the amount received depends on the years worked and the worker's contribution base). The concept of a pension as a benefit is not limited to the retirement period, since there are various pensions: for incapacity for work, for widowhood, for disability, related to survival, etc.
The person who receives a pension becomes a pensioner and in some countries guides are published for this group, in the which is possible to know useful information (health advice, rights and obligations as a pensioner and other recommendations).
As a complement to state pensions, there are pension plans, normally managed by financial entities. They consist of a savings system that aims to increase the purchasing power of retirees.
