The concept of thought Creative is also known by other names, such as lateral thinking, unusual thinking or design thinking in English. Regardless of the term used, its purpose is to find alternative solutions to new problems or challenges.
Creative thinking is the skill to create new ideas with a certain value. This is not to say that creativity consist of think differently, since manufacturing hexagonal doors is something different than usual, but it is not a creative proposal because it does not add any value (it does not solve a need and, therefore, is something Useless).
Against common sense
In most human activities there are norms and guidelines that are commonly accepted and all of them make up a general approach based on custom and common sense. The problem is that this model does not serve to find solutions to new problems that may appear. Consequently, supporters of creative thinking consider that new proposals appear when traditional schemes and linear paths are abandoned.
Considerations on creative thinking
New ideas do not arise spontaneously, but rather a certain intellectual predisposition is necessary. In this sense, neuroscientists recommend a series of guidelines to follow:
- Bombard our brain with ideas that have not been previously processed.
- Eradicate the opinions and beliefs ingrained in the brain.
- Consider mistakes or errors as a necessary part to find the right solution definitive.
- Observe the reality that is intended to be modified with an approach critical (for example, wondering why something happens).
- Identify the problem that is analyzed clearly.
Once the problem has been identified, it is already feasible to start looking for creative solutions, for which it is possible to use some strategies
1) meet with other people in a brainstorming or brainstorming,
2) seek inspiration in a environment stimulating,
3) know the opinions of lay people on the matter,
4) not discard ideas even if they seem absurd and
5) learn about other creative experiences.
Conclusions
Creative thinking starts from a attitude proactive intellectual. New ideas can be acquired through techniques and processes of learning. Creativity is a free tool that is at our fingertips.
