The French region of Champagne is the cradle of one of the most internationally known drinks, champagne. As can be seen, its name as a drink is due to its geographical origin.
The drink for the celebrations
Champagne is a yellow sparkling white wine that contains carbon dioxide and is made from a method very strict, which in French is known by the word champenoise (one of the keys to this process consists of a second fermentation in the bottle to produce the characteristic foam).
This drink has, above other considerations, a sense symbolic, as it is associated with any moment of celebration, be it a wedding, an anniversary, an important family gathering, a love date or a party. Despite this, in recent years champagne is also used to accompany food, since it can be combined with all kinds of food.
The types of champagne depend on the amount of grams of sugar used to make it
The so-called brut nature contains three grams or less of sugar per liter of wine. The extra brut contains between three and six grams of sugar and the brut champagne is the one with the most grams of sugar, specifically six and twenty. If the champagne has more than 20 grams of sugar, it is no longer within the
category de brut, but is part of other categories: sec, extra sec and demi-sec (the latter contains a maximum of 50 grams of sugar). After this amount the champagne receives another denomination, doux or sweet. The classification brut is the most common and sweet is the least demanded.Data of interest
