The term proa comes from the Latin prora and in turn from the Greek prora. In Spanish the words branque, aflasto or roda are two synonymous words. Popa comes from the Latin puppis and one of its synonyms is acrostolio.
The front part is known as the bow and the rear part is called the stern.
Both in one and the other there are moorings, that is, ropes or cables that are used so that a boat can be attached or tied to the dock. In this sense, there are boats that moor from the bow and others that do it from the stern.

If we go on a boat, for example on a vacation cruise, it is very likely that we will have to choose a cabin in a certain location.
If we take into account that the engines are normally located in the stern, it is advisable that the cabin reservation is made in the bow.
The bow of the Titanic
Probably the bow of the Titanic is the most famous part of this famous ship. The fame of it is due to two reasons: because in this part the collapse of it began and because the main terrace was located and in it has been immortalized one of the images best known in the history of movie theater. In the wreckage of the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean, the bow is in good condition, while the stern is completely destroyed.
