The term conformism is a term abstract used to refer to the attitude that a human being can have before life and the different situations that they have to live day by day. The idea of conformity comes from the adjective "conform".
Being satisfied with something means accepting it and although when this adjective is used a positive meaning is usually given to the person, in the case of conformity that acceptance becomes negative as long as the person is characterized by accepting everything that happens to him regardless of whether that is negative or positive and doing nothing to fight what you don't like or satisfies.
Conformity is in many senses one of the most common attitudes of our time and this has to do with the type of society in which we live. Today's society causes its members to be immersed in a complex system of routines, demands, duties and occupations which are very difficult to get rid of if one wants to be able to survive in the best way possible.
Given the permanent need to follow social routines and mandates, people tend to show rather conformist attitudes with their present and their destiny because they simply do not have time or enough power to fight against what does not satisfies.
Many times conformity also has to do with fear or unsafety to lose the social place that one occupies, to not want to change because of being in a safe place, to not look for more triumphs or achievements because those that one has already enough to lead a life more or less normal.
At different times, human beings have known how to rebel not only against everyday situations but also against social, political and cultural structures, generating changes so profound that society was never again same.
A clear example of this can be the French Revolution, one of the most crucial historical moments for West since it meant a change of paradigm not only political but also social and cultural. At a time like that, conformism plays a very small or almost no place since people do not accept that reality and are dissatisfied in various ways.
