We can describe to the term quantify as the act of converting certain information or data into numbers or some type of data in the form of quantity. The word quantify refers precisely to the idea of quantity, something that can be counted, measured or measured in numerical terms and that therefore can be known exactly and not approximate or estimate. Having explained this, we can say that the word quantify can be used in various situations or circumstances that involve greater or less scientificity.
As we said, when we talk about quantifying something we are always referring to something, to a phenomenon or a certain type of product that can be measured or transformed into numbers exact. Quantifying is giving or converting something in quantity and this can be done in various situations such as when a scientist quantifies the amount of iron in the blood of a person through clinical studies. However, the act of quantifying can also be carried out by ordinary people when they draw up accounts or when, for example, they request a
kilo of vegetables in the Commerce of neighborhood.Whenever something is being measured in numbers we will be talking about quantifying. Unlike this, there are many things that cannot be quantified in an exact way and that then must be understood in approximate or estimative terms but no longer numerical. A good example of this is the love that one person may feel for another: the same could never be understood in quantifiable terms or numerical if not in general terms such as "a lot", "little", "too much", "not at all", to name a few. This is where the concepts and values related to the social that very seldom are linked exactly with the world of numbers and quantifications.
