The word gases corresponds to the plural of the term gas, while by gas it refers to that fluid that tends to expand indefinitely and is characterized by its small density. In other words, it can be said that gas is the state of aggregation of matter that does not have its own shape or volume, unlike solids and liquids that do.
On the other hand, gas is also called that gaseous mixture that is used as fuel for heating or lighting.
And likewise another mixture will be called gas, the fuel and air that powers a car engine.
The term is due to scientist Jan Baptiste van Helmont, who in the seventeenth century carried out successive experiments with gases and began to spread the term from the Latin word chaos.
The word gases is used interchangeably, either to refer to the combustible gases that are used both in the home as in industries.
There are different types of gas, city gas (it is distributed through pipes for domestic or industrial use), noble gas (each chemical element
, which under normal conditions, appear in the gaseous state, helium, neon, radon, argon, krypton and xenon) and the natural gas (It comes from natural oils or geological formations). On the other hand, in a medical context it is very popular that gases are called those that accumulate in the intestine as a consequence of digestion; I consulted the doctor for severe abdominal pain and he reassured me by telling me that they are only gases from some food eaten. Flatulence, as this type of gases is also called, they are a mixture of gases expelled through the anus and that present characteristic sounds and smells.
As a consequence of its literal meaning, the word gas is normally used by many in a figurative sense when they want to account for theforce, momentum and Energythat for example presents a person in a certain situation. I need a significant amount of gas in the study to be able to get to know all the subjects in time before the exam date.
Another figurative use of the term is in the popular expressionat full throttle, which is used when you want to account for the great velocity to which a situation arose, a car came out of the start, among other issues.
