The term global is used as a qualifying adjective to designate everything that has to do with the world, with the globe. The idea of global or of globalization is a very recent idea that emerged towards the end of the 20th century as a consequence of a profound process of global unification and homogenization both at the political, social, economic and mainly cultural. Globalization is a very complex phenomenon that means that all or almost all the territories of the world are completely connected and communicated with each other, assimilating the cultural, economic or political characteristics characteristic of dominant regions such as the United States or Europe.
Although we cannot say that there have been other eras of much communication between territories and regions very distant from each other, it would not be until this moment (late 20th century) when this communication, due to the inventions technological, could be completely global, which implies that there is no part of the world that has not assimilated some part of this homogenization in the communication and
participation world. In this sense, it is in the first moments of globalization that the first organizations in history, mainly the United Nations (UN) and other economic organizations such as the world Bank or the International Monetary Fund (IMF). All of them are born with the idea of acting on a global level, that is, having interference and concern over all the territories of the planet. Currently, only a small number of countries or territories in the world do not belong to the UN.
In addition, when we talk about the global, we must make special reference to how culture has changed throughout the second half of the 20th century and this has to do mainly with the fact that it is from the transmission of American cultural elements that the rest of the cultures of the world are organized: thus, we can already speak of a type of gastronomy global music and global artists, from global entertainment forms, etc. All this obviously works to the detriment of the traditional cultures of each region that are left aside in the face of the important and profound advance of globalized culture.
