The concept of genesis can refer in our language origin and principle, for example, we can apply it to indicate what begins and as a synonym for the aforementioned concepts. "The genesis of the business."

On the other hand, it is used to designate that series of factors and of events that participate in the shaping of something. “Unemployment, inflation and the lack of investments were the genesis of this brutal economic crisis that the nation”.
First book of the Old Testament that recounts the creation of the world

It provides a detailed description how was the beginning of the world, the creation from nothing of everything that is present on the planet by God, and one of the most outstanding issues of this creation: man and woman.
The creation of Adam and Eve, the fall into original sin, the universal flood
Undoubtedly, one of the best known passages in this book is the account of the creation of Adam and Eve, the first human beings to inhabit the earth. First God created Adam and then from him his wife Eve from him. He also tells us that he arranged for both of them to live in paradise but man's greed, that begins in those moments led them to commit original sin and lose that paradisiacal place in the world.
Genesis tells us that Eve surrenders to temptation and eats the fruits of the forbidden tree even though God had told them not to. As we know, that fact marked the original sin of the man who later, Jesus, made man, came to save.
Also in this book is related the adventure of the universal flood that Noah stars, among other relevant facts and that are part of the most important beliefs of Judaism and Christianity.
Regarding its authorship there is no specific definition, some attribute it to Moses while many others maintain that it is a Author a stranger. The truth is that it is a text written many, many centuries ago.
