In the field of esthetic and the styling there is a discipline that focuses on the study morphologic of the face and is known by the name of visagism. The word visagism is of French origin and specifically comes from the term visage, which means face.
The fundamental idea of Visagism
The human face can be studied from a morphological point of view and this is what happens in visagism
In this discipline the horizontal and vertical plane of the face is contemplated. On the horizontal plane of the face, styling and aesthetic professionals should observe the line where the hair grows up to the eyebrows. Next you have to draw another line from the eyebrows to where the nose ends. Finally, a line from where the nose ends to the chin. Thus, there are three levels horizontal, which inform about the symmetry of the face. In the vertical plane, the face is divided into two imaginary areas, one to the left of the nose and the other to the right. This division also makes it possible to observe the proportion symmetrical of the face.
Horizontal and vertical measurements make it easy for the professional of aesthetics decides on a type of makeup determined and by the most suitable shades.
The principles of Visagism are equally helpful to hair stylists. Thus, there is a double relationship in visagism: face-makeup and face-hairstyle.
The different shapes of the face and makeup
The oval face is the most symmetrical and, therefore, it is the one that needs the least make-up corrections.
On the round face, the makeup artist should try to create an oval appearance, which is done with a base concealer or powder. To give a greater sensation length can give luminosity in the forehead and chin area.
In the case of the pear-shaped face, the first third of the face is narrower than the third third. To correct this type of face, it is necessary to give light on the sides of the first third and darkness in the jaw area.
In the square face, the makeup artist has to cut the angles of the face and for this, dark tones will be used in the jaws and in the hairline area.
In an elongated face you have to shorten the face and for this the corners are darkened. And if the face is shaped like heart makeup should incorporate darkness in the areas of the first third.
