A computer record is a type or set of data stored in a system.

For the computing, there are different types of records, but in all cases there is a reference to the concept of storing data or information about the status, processes or use of the computer.

First, a system log is a database that has the purpose of storing configuration, options and commands of the operating system. These registers are generally used on Microsoft Windows systems. A system registry can contain information and configurations of the hardware and software in use, preferences of the Username, file and file associations, system uses, changes and modifications, and so on. These records are kept within the system with names such as "User.dat" or "System.dat" and can be retrieved by the user for their transport to another system.

Another type of record is that of programming. This type of data is formed by several elements in association that respond to the same structure. Programming records can be elementary or complex and hold information about how the software or

app in particular it will work or act at all times.

On the other hand, records are also used in a database. Each record represents a unique item or element found in a table, sheet, or base. Thus, the registry is configured by the set of data that belongs to a particular entity.

In all these cases and others, the job of records has the purpose of storing information and data, putting it in relation and placing it within reach under an index or order system that allows its access and use at any time. Records are the method that both the user and the computer system use to access and use all the information.
