Repudiation as a coercive tool
In general, the use of the verb repudiate is usually used to express a degree of superlative rejection, greater than what can be considered usual. The repudiation occurs before actions that shake the most intimate values of the person. Actions that are manifestly unfair or harmful, malicious or discriminatory acts, or in general all those ways of acting that violate the most elementary ethics or morals.
Repudiation is not an intimate action. Because the act that causes it shakes the value structures that a person or group have around life, the individual does not You limit yourself to exerting your rejection in a quiet and personal way, but you need to express it in an obvious way so that everyone take conscience of your disagreement with that way of proceeding.
In this sense there are two types of manifestation repudiation, one spontaneous and the other planned. The spontaneous takes shape in shouts or expressions of disapproval, and is, for example, the type of attitude adopted by the public attending a football game when they attend a violent entrance that puts in danger the physical integrity of a rival.
The other formula seeks to go further and get whoever has executed the action or made certain statements, to take a step back and retract. For this, letters, speeches, or even organized acts that exert pressure on whoever carried out the offense are usually used.
Repudiation is, therefore, a way of trying to eradicate attitudes and modes of action that are considered to have no place within the framework of values by which a society is governed.
