Founded in 753 BC, the city of Rome is the oldest city in Europe and current capital of the country of Italy. Rome is also one of the main cities in terms of population (with almost three million inhabitants), relevance politics and geographic and history, having been for centuries the capital city of the fabulous Roman empire and mecca of all continent European. Rome is also one of the artistic centers of Europe and the world due to its impressive number of museums, monuments and artistic works. In its territory The Vatican City is located, a politically independent space where the Pope or head of the Catholic Church resides.
Rome is part of the Lazio region and is located in the middle of the Italian territory, on the west coast. The river that runs through it is the famous Tiber River and although it does not have direct contact with the sea, the city of Rome is only 20 km from distance of the Tyrrhenian Sea (one of the internal seas of the Mediterranean). Due to this location, the
weather Rome is relatively warm and pleasant in comparison with other regions of Europe: its winters are not as harsh as in northern Europe, although its summers are usually characterized by very high temperatures. Its area is 1285 square km.Rome is one of the most important tourist centers in Europe due to its high variety of historical spaces, monuments and sites of interest. Among the most relevant and visited we must mention the incredible Roman Colosseum (site of the bloodiest events of ancient Rome), the Forum Roman, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, numerous churches and palaces, and of course the Vatican area that although not directly belonging to Rome is a mandatory stop for all tourists who arrive at the town.
