The acronym UFC stands for Ultimate Fighting Championship, which is a promoter of a sport based on the mixture of various martial arts and the boxingtraditional. The acronym UFC is also used to refer to the sport itself, a fight between two fighters, also called warriors, who face off in an octagon-shaped ring surrounded by a cage.

The origin of this form of struggle

Its origin must be placed in 1993 in the state of Colorado. A group of people related to the world of television `` wondered what kind of fight is the most spectacular to televise and at the same time what kind of fighter is most effective (a boxer, a karateka, a judoka or other). In 2000 the state of New Jersey authorized this sport but imposing the condition that certain rules be used. Thus was born the first regulated mixed martial arts event in the United States. Later, promoters in Nevada and New Jersey created definitive and unified rules. In this way, the UFC quickly spread throughout the country and today is a sport with international fame.

Main rules and characteristics of the UFC

To guarantee the physical integrity of the warriors, a regulation supervised by a sports organization. In this sense, there is a control of the weighing of the combatants, as they are divided into categories similar to those of other fighting sports.

Furthermore, combatants must pass a general medical examination. In addition, a day before the fight a doctor supervises the physical condition of the warriors. It is also controlled, as in other sports, possible doping. On the other hand, if a fighter is defeated he cannot fight again for 90 days.

As is logical, the combat is carried out with the intervention of a specialized referee, who must stop the bout when he considers that a wrestler is in a situation of danger for their physical integrity.

It is a sport of great intensity physics, conceived as a television show and that the spectators constantly cheer on the warriors live.
