The figure of the Devil, Lucifer or Satan appears in the Bible as the adversary of God. According to the Old Testament Satan was an angel created by God who rebelled against him and who tried to manipulate humans so that they would not obey the true Creator. His presence is part of the tradition Christian, Jewish and Muslim.
It can be understood from a perspective religious, like a symbol that represents the presence of evil in humanity or as an aesthetic current.
From a religious point of view
Since ancient times there have been sects that worship the devil, supposed diabolical possessions and a whole series of currents related to Satan. All of this makes up Satanism. For the Catholic Church, all these cults and rituals express the same idea: the rejection of the true God.
The Church of Satan is a institution religious founded in the United States in 1966 by Anton Szandor LaVey and is known as Laveyan Satanism. His followers do not worship the devil but defend some vital principles: the search for knowledge by
margin of God, social Darwinism, the exaltation of physical and mental pleasure, the denial of any god or force supernatural in the universe and the idea that each individual is his own god.The faithful of this church consider that Christianity has used the figure of Satan to frighten men and dominate the world.
A person can be a Satanist in two different ways:
1) believe in the existence of the devil and practice some ritual in his honor and
2) believes that the devil does not exist and, therefore, his satanism is related to a way of understanding life.
The presence of evil
Those who fight Satanism from a approach religious consider that the different ways of expressing the evil among human beings is due to the influence of the devil. The fallen angel of the Old Testament tempted Jesus Christ to lead him astray from the true path and, at the same time, tempts men to act in wicked, arrogant, and harmful ways.
In other words, the fact that evil exists is proof of the existence of the devil.
The fashion of Satanism
Satanism can be understood as an aesthetic current. In this sense, there are people who use a symbology related to Satan. Some of the more popular symbols are: the inverted pentagram, the all-seeing eye, the satanic cross, the satanic "s", the sign of the horns with the hand, the number "666", or mark of the beast, etc.
