Considered one of the most important socio-political concepts of modern times, the union concept is one that is used to designate groups of people who share a space labor in common and that meet for solidarity purposes with each other.
The term union comes from the Greek ('syndike', what does it mean just, protector) and began to be used as at present from the phenomena caused by the Industrial Revolution and by the emergence of manufacturing companies in Great Britain and other European countries. The union then appeared as a meeting space in which the different workers and operators met found to mark their requests and complaints, so that they could be heard by employers or bosses. The union is thus based on the idea that a group of people can exert greater pressure and get better results on your claims than a person who acts in an individual.
Modern trade unions have long faithfully represented the interests of the workers since they were made up of themselves, organized in their theories and laws by workers' interests. Based on a more equitable idea of the distribution of power, the unions organize themselves from the election of delegates who rotate and do not have a place of office.
hierarchy if not that they are simply representatives of the total of the companions in front of the bosses. Traditionally, the strongest and strongest unions have been those involved in core activities for the economy although in certain periods of century XX the majority of the unions had the same characteristics.Today, the concept of trade unions is quite undervalued, especially if one takes into account that current trade unions are no longer the institution representative of the workers par excellence. In this sense, both the quasi-mafia interests of many unions, the desire for power of many union leaders and other phenomena such as the alteration of the labor system (which makes a employee can be changed of category and job numerous times throughout your life due to financial need) are factors of great importance when it comes to marking the decline of the union as a representative group and defender of workers' interests, although they continue to exist in many countries.
