Suffrage is considered today as one of the most important political and social elements of societies. Westerners since it is the means through which the people elect their representatives and freely express their opinions and wishes politicians. Suffrage is, in other words, the act of casting the vote at the appropriate and specifically designated time for such activity.
According to the theories of right political party, suffrage is one of the primary rights in the field of politics for the human being. Suffrage is perhaps one of the only moments in which the people express their political preference and derive direct consequences from it. To be considered valid, the vote is cast at times previously chosen for this purpose, such as electoral acts. It is there that voters gather to cast their vote, and they generally do so privately and secretly.
The use of suffrage is undoubtedly a novel element if one takes into account that in most of the history of the
Humanity Governments did not allow the people to elect their representatives, but private and certainly authoritarian methodologies were used.It would not be until the nineteenth century that the idea of universal suffrage was popularized, which means access to all citizens of legal age to vote and freedom expression of your political preferences through you. In the case of women, such Liberty it should wait until the end of the same century and in many places until well into the twentieth century. Some of the cases of exclusion of suffrage at present are minors, prisoners and foreigners who do not have a sufficient residence in the place to be able to make decisions about their policy.
Suffrage will undoubtedly be eternally related to the democracy, a political system through which the people actively participate in the decision making, be it direct or indirect.
