At the behest of the Grammar, is called subjunctive to the mode verbal that expresses the action of the verb with significance of doubt, wish or possibility. It is known as the mode of the virtual precisely because it offers the meaning of the verb but without to update. Traditionally, this verbal mode is used when trying to give an account of uncertainty, subjectivity or possibility.
In the language Spanish We find several fairly common uses of the subjunctive mood, among them the following stand out: expression of a wish (I would like my child to have a boy), expression of a doubt (I doubt that tomorrow arrive on time), appearance in more or less fixed expressions (such is the case of: it is probable that, would interesting that and is probable that) and the expression of a negative command.
In those cases where the ruling verb imposes an idea of doubt on the subordinate clause, the mode should be used subjunctive, on the other hand, if the main verb imposes certainty, the subordinate clause should be constructed from the mode indicative.
Likewise, all those verbs of desire, request and order will always require the use of the subjunctive mood, among the most common are: I hope that, wish, hope, want that, ask, beg and request that, propose and recommend that ...
