Definition of Lotus Flower

The Flower Lotus is a plant of Watervery popular which has also become popular as Rose of the Nile or Sacred Lotus and whose flowers know how to float above the water surface. The great attraction what does this propose species in addition to the beauty of its pink or white flowers and the various uses that it is given in daily life, among the gastronomy and the decoration, are its seeds, extremely long-lived and therefore capable of germinating after thirty centuries.
In China and India, it is a sacred flower
It is original from Russia, Eastern and Oceania and in other countries, such as USA, was incorporated as a result of the interest it reports. At present, in China and India It is considered the most sacred flower, whereas in the past it was Egypt its great promoter.
Precisely in the aforementioned cultures, India, China and Egypt, it is where the greatest symbolism showed and shows. The fact that it came from the water gave it, the Lotus Flower, an enormous meaning symbolic that did not fade even with the passage of time.
Lotus flower and the influence of Buddhism
But if we have to mark something specific we must say that it is in the Buddhism where this flower is attributed an enormous influence since it represents one of the symbols of luck for those who profess this belief and is strongly associated with concepts such as those of purity and virtue. Even the Buddha is always depicted sitting on a lotus or admiring such a flower, especially at the behest of the moment of meditation, such an important practice within this current.
One of the main proposals of Buddhism is the disinterest that it intends to sow with respect to the material issues, meanwhile, the lotus flower has the mission of symbolizing that selflessness and purity mental.
It is precisely this blossoming from the water that Buddhism uses as symbol of material detachment.
Its flowering occurs in the season summer and it is national flower and India and Vietnam.
