The concept of folklore is one of the most interesting concepts at the level cultural. When we speak of folkore we are referring to the set of elements, ideas, traditions, ways of acting and popular knowledge that make up the identity of a given community. Folklore is precisely what builds the idiosyncrasy of that community, making them dress, eat, have fun, think and move in their world in a particular and unique way. The word folklore comes from English, a language in which 'folk' means people and 'lore' means heritage.
The notion of folklore is an abstract notion that implies the set of elements that give identity to a community. Thus, while a Spaniard speaks Spanish and a Briton speaks English, they also differ in their history, in their most deeply rooted traditions, in their way of communicating or seeing the world. Everything that makes folklore is what allows the members of a community to feel identified with certain elements and that, therefore, they feel part of a community by knowing they are an integral part of the herself. Folklore is usually most visibly expressed in items such as clothing,
musictraditional, the dances, in the forms of entertainment, on the gastronomy, the history.Today, the notion of folklore has lost much of its importance due to the diffusion of the phenomenon known as globalization that implies a constant and permanent cultural equalization between very distant and disparate regions. This makes regions such as countries of Latin America share the same music, dress code, or entertainment products as Asian or European countries. When this phenomenon occurs, the folklore of each region, what makes each community of humans unique, tends to get lost and remain in the memory.
