In democratic systems, electoral processes must be carried out with the maximum possible guarantees. In Mexico, the public body in charge of ensuring the correct functioning electoral is the OPLE. This acronym means "Organisms Local Electoral Public ".

It is an organism with autonomy in its functioning

In Mexico, the territorial organization of the state is federal in nature, so each federation has a certain level of independence politics. The OPLEs act by delegation of the state and have legal personality own, which means that they are independent entities, endowed with a budget and with management capacity.

Its purpose is to organize the different electoral processes that take place in each federation. In this sense, this organism has the maximum responsibility to organize the electoral roll and to issue the credential for the citizen vote.

The OPLEs have a general council, which is the highest management body. Likewise, they are made up of different electoral councilors (these are elected by the General Council of the INE, the National Electoral Institute). Thus, the INE and the different OPLEs are organized to coordinate the

procedures of the processes of election of the citizenship, both at the federal and local levels.

In addition to these two bodies, in Mexico there are other authorities related to democratic election processes: the Electoral Tribunal of the Power of attorney of the Federation and the Special Prosecutor's Office for the Attention of Electoral Crimes.

The "PREP Casilla" system is a technological advance that seeks to improve the electoral system

In recent years, the INE and the OPLEs have promoted some novelties to improve the procedures for electing public representatives. Among them, the "PREP Casilla" system stands out. This consists of the digitization of the electoral records in order to improve the vote counting system.

The new procedure is performed through an application on cell phones. Among the advantages of the PREP Casilla are the speed in the dissemination of information and its low cost compared to traditional systems.

Apart from this technological advance, a high-tech tracking system has also been incorporated to identify electoral packages and the systems of safety against possible cyber attacks. Finally, social networks are monitored in order to prevent the spread of false news or fake news that could affect the electoral processes.
