When we talk about sculpture The idea of a figure modeled from a certain material comes to mind. At the same time, the figure in question has a general characteristic: it is a representation static, without movement. On the other hand, it is understood by Kinetic energy the one that takes care of the Energy of a moving object. Consequently, when we unite the two terms, we obtain a curious synthesis: something that does not move in principle but that in reality does move, that is, kinetic sculpture. In this way, kinetic sculpture is the artistic representation of an object with some kind of movement.
The idea of movement in sculpture can be of two types: an apparent movement (for example, an optical illusion associated with the activity, oscillation or change) or, on the other hand, a real movement (for example, a figure that permanently changes from direction). In any case, in both types of sculptors we are in the sphere of kinetics.
TOgeneral aspects
All kinetic sculpture has to do with the idea of movement in some sense. The observer of this sculptural modality is faced with something unusual, since his eyes observe that the sculpture is changing from its stillness. This aspect generates a particularity, since the viewer of the work may have the need to move to capture the reality of the work, since each visual perspective provides information different.
To achieve the effect of movement the artist has the possibility of using resources very diverse technicians (a motor linked to sculpture, the use of magnets and mechanisms electromagnetic, the natural effect of the wind, light changes, suspended objects with displacements pendulums, etc).
Kinetic sculpture would be a section of a global concept, kinetic art. It is a movement artistic typical of the 20th century, when artists find themselves in a totally free creative atmosphere and seek new ways of expression. To communicate this renewing spirit, the term is often used Vanguard. With this new dimension of art it is now possible to give matter a new dimension. In other words, if the world does move, why deprive the sculpture of movement.
Like all artistic work, sculpture seeks beauty. However, beauty has been viewed from immutability and with kinetic sculpture this trend disappears.
