The concept of witchcraft is one that is used in the language Common to designate occult religious practices that are not recognized by official religions and that are considered dangerous or sometimes unreal. Witchcraft are, technically, those carried out by witches or warlocks, understood as the only ones capable of putting practice these processes to give effective results. Witchcraft, like many other magical practices, are considered black practices because they resort to spirits, characters and forms that the official religions do not recognize and that are understood as unreal or innocuous.
Witchcraft as religious practices are not exclusive to West if not, on the contrary, many ancient cultures and many other current ones base a large part of their religious beliefs on witchcraft practices. In this sense, according to the parameters of the Christian and Jewish religions, all pagan rites such as those carried out by the barbarians in Europe before the birth of Christ, the rites of the Americans such as Aztecs, Incas and
maya and the rites of the different peoples of Asia prior to conquest European are all considered at some point as witchcraft.Today, the concept of witchcraft has a somewhat more negative meaning since it is not associated so much with the practices that different communities may have if not with the practices that are outside the religion and that always involve dark rites with invocation of spirits from beyond, incantations, curses and spells. In general, witchcraft are also carried out for dark or negative purposes, that is, seeking the interested party to benefit from another (for example, to make a person fall in love of the interested party when naturally that would not happen) or directly harming another person (for example, placing a curse on him that makes that person suffer or fail in everything). It goes without saying, however, that many people do not believe in these issues and are not consciously affected by that simple fact.
