Scientific knowledge allows us to obtain answers about natural phenomena. However, there are multiple questions that cannot be explained with strictly scientific criteria. This limitation makes other knowledge and disciplines try to provide some kind of light.
A divination technique through the hands
The reading of the hands is known as palmistry. This word comes from the Greek and is made up of two elements: khéir is equal to hand and mantéia means divination. The art palmistry has been practiced since ancient times and it was in China and India where this tradition millennial. Over time, both Greeks, Romans, and Hebrews adopted this divination technique.
Those who practice palmistry maintain that planetary energies are manifested in the hands. Thus, the shapes that surround the palm of the hand correspond to a planet (for example, on the side is manifests Mars, under the little finger is Mercury and under the index finger is manifested the power of Jupiter).
With respect to the lines of the hand, there are three types: those that express the destiny of the individual, those related to his education and the secondary ones. Among them, the so-called life line stands out. Contrary to what is popularly stated, the number of years we are going to live is not distinguished in the life line, but rather the essence of life is expressed in it. personality and the force vital of the individual.
Another relevant aspect is the shape of the fingers. In this regard, people with the thumb spread are said to be very practical, long, sharp fingers are They correspond to artistic abilities and the fingers with the marked joints indicate that the individual is reflective.
Those who practice this discipline argue that the nerve endings in the hand are a reflection of each person's brain activity. In any case, the palmist's conclusions are not intended to be absolute certainties, but rather a simple orientation on the factors that condition the existence of the individual.
Like other magic or forms of divination, palmistry is considered a pseudoscience
The range of divination techniques is very wide. Geomancy interprets the future through the earth, hydromancy is based on the distribution of water, metoposcopy interprets the moles of the body and ornithomancy is based on the meaning of the flight of birds. These and many other prediction techniques are deeply ingrained in most cultures, having been practiced for thousands of years.
Despite responding to the great concerns that affect humans, the proposals are rejected by the scientific community.
