Ordinal numbers are those words that describe the position of an object or a person within a list or sequence.

Properties of ordinal numbers

Ordinal numbers have a series of characteristics and rules that you have to know to delimit them well:

• Each ordinal number corresponds to a whole number (1: first, 2: second, 3: third, and so on, one for each).
• The decimal numbers do not work to indicate a position, that's why they don't have ordinal numbers.
• The correct way to write them is: indicate the position number (integer) and to this is added the lyrics "O" or "a" as superscript (first: 1st, second: 2nd, third: 3rd, first 1st, second 2nd, third 3rd).
