The number is a sign that facilitates expression of an amount in relation to the Unit that represents, meanwhile, there are various classifications that will give rise to different sets such as the natural numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), rational numbers, decimal numbers, among others.
The whole numbers include the natural numbers, those that we use to count the elements of a set, when zero and negative numbers, which are those that result from subtracting a Natural number a larger one, that is 4 - 5 = -1. Therefore, the integers will only be those that do not have a decimal part, 4,3 is not a whole number but a decimal number.
It should be noted that we obtain integers from basic operations such as addition and subtraction and since ancient times it was usual job; there are records dating back to the 6th century when Indian mathematicians spoke of them and used them.
Negative integers are usually used in practical and very specific situations such as: the expression of a
temperature below zero, so it is very cold. Right now in Antarctica they are doing - 6 degrees. And we also use them to refer to a depth below sea level. The boat sunk was found at -123 meters. The importance of this type of number is associated with its ability to represent non-divisible units such as a person or countryIn other words, it is not correct to state that 4.7 people attended the meeting. On the other hand, decimal numbers can indicate divisible units.
