The concept of intrigue can be analyze from various perspectives. On the one hand, it is a strategy to achieve some purpose. At the same time, it is something that arouses intense curiosity. Finally, there are literary and cinematographic approaches related to this idea.
Intrigues and machinations
If one or more people organize a secret plan to obtain some benefit, they are carrying out an intrigue. Usually this action has some characteristics: a plan based on cunning and ingenuity, a dose of mystery and concealment so that the objective to be achieved is not known by others and a certain capacity for handling.
Someone participates in an intrigue when he does not want his true intentions to be known. These types of strategies are quite common, especially in the political and economic spheres.
When we are very curious about something or someone
Let's imagine that we want to have more information about a person because his behavior is suspicious and strange to us. In this context, we will say that we are intrigued. The same can happen if someone tells us about an episode shrouded in mystery.
Certain strange phenomena or mysteries are so inexplicable that they inevitably cause an effect of attraction. When this happens we say that we are intrigued. The mystery of the building of the pyramids, the world of aliens or the enigma of the Bermuda Triangle are some examples in this regard.
Conspiracies and conspiracies are circumstances in which intrigue is the most characteristic element.
In fiction
In the gender police in the novel black and in mystery films intrigue plays a leading role. In the plot something is told in half and there is a species puzzle that the reader or the viewer must try to solve.
The idea of intrigue is similar to another, suspense. Both in the literature as in the movie theater the genre of intrigue is spoken of to refer to all those creations that are based on mystery, enigmas and hidden secrets.
In the field of fiction, the idea of intrigue can be expressed in many ways: with characters who hide a mystery or a secret, through seemingly inexplicable situations, with a sinister setting or raising all kinds of doubts that must resolve.
