Biomass is considered to be the whole set of living elements that make up a geographic space and that act in combination in many different ways, affecting it both positively and negatively. Biomass is the section of the planet that is inhabited by living beings permanently, unlike what happens with the section underground and with the atmospheric section, none of which presents conditions suitable for the permanent and stable life of beings alive.
Biomass can then be composed of a myriad of elements such as plants, animals, microorganisms and others, all of them inhabitants of a defined space which they spontaneously and continuously modify. The modifications are what gives you the features to the place and does it different to other spaces due to the combined action of living or biotic elements. The set of transformations that are generated due to the action of biomass is known as ecosystem, the space in which both living and non-living elements are combined and related to each other in many different ways (for example, a
aquatic ecosystem in which animals and plants leave their mark on the Water). It goes without saying that, depending on the space, the amount of living elements present may vary and thus form different types of ecosystems, some more natural and others more artificial.Biomass can also be understood in ecological and sustainable terms since it is defined at the same time as a living matter that can be transformed into a important non-polluting energy resource and much less harmful for the planet than other energies such as oil. In this sense, the defenders of biomass as an energy resource suggest that all living elements can be used as Energy and that, then, a very important variety of elements could contribute to the elimination of other energies that are much more polluting and harmful.
