Traditionally, it is designated by the term of navy to the armed service in charge of the defense of a country by sea. To carry out this task as important and vital as it is the fact of safeguarding the integrity of a nation and its inhabitants in the face of external threats, the navy will use various instruments and tools to specify it, such as: corvettes, destroyers, frigates, beacon ships, amphibious assault ships, aircraft carriers, tugs, services and communications media, schools of training and training, both for already effective staff and for those who want to enter the force to be part of it, among others.
Although it would seem very simple and normal for all countries to have their own navy, the reality is that this does not happen in all Nations, because the organization and the maintenance such a force will require not only a large sum of economic resources that can be used solely for your functioning, but also because it will need a series of instruments and specific facilities to operate, including ports, repair facilities and specialized personnel. For this reason, despite having rivers, coasts and lakes suitable for navigation, not all countries can form a force of this type.
As with the other military forces, the navy has well differentiated the ranks of those who compose it, and they will be adapted to the character of the naval units. The command of larger or more important units will always be assumed by general officers such as rear admirals, admirals or vice admirals.
As I mentioned, then, the personnel of this force will be distinguished by the military rank they hold. In most of the world, students are called midshipmen or cadets, when they are five years old. they are promoted to ensign of the Frigate and thus they will go in a growing ascending career until they achieve the maximum position of Admiral.
On the other hand, the term marine is generally used in another concept that is linked to the more generic term that we have given for marine. For example, in those countries of tradition maritime, the merchant navy turns out to be that fleet of ships used for the Commerce and that sometimes complements the navy. The aforementioned fleets, according to their size and purpose, are divided into: dry cargo ships (container ships), tanks for transport liquid, such as oil, liquefied gas, specialized vessels for very heavy loads, such as that of special machinery, coastal, ferries, which transport a mix of cars and passengers and cruise ships.
And also, the term marine is often used to designate that place on the coast or on the banks of a river, specially built for mooring sports or leisure boats.
Marina also can refer to the proper name that is given to a person.
