The concept of identity Personal is a relatively recent concept that, although it always existed, is closely related to the establishment of modern States and their possibility of organizing different activities related to the field civil. The need to have different elements of personal identity is something very common and important in the present, there are numerous types of documents that serve this purpose.
The personal identity that an individual has is mainly given by the name and surname. These two elements are the most used to distinguish a person and have to appear as such in all documents, forms and records that may be officially. However, nowadays due to the very important amount of population worldwide, other more specific and detailed elements must also be taken into account to be able to differentiate people with the same name. Items such as fingerprints, DNA and other biological issues serve to distinguish people from one another. All of them are generally used at the administrative or legal level to officially register the existence of individuals.
On the other hand, we can mention other issues that also serve to favor the identification of a person and that they have more to do with cultural elements than with biological or anatomical. Thus, phenomena such as religion, the ethnicity to which one belongs, personal tastes, habits, abilities, skills, profession, behavior or personality. All these issues added together help a lot to define the personal identity of an individual and although they do not serve official level, administrative or legal level, they serve much more to get to know a person and thus differentiate them from rest. This is so since the combination of them is unique and particular in each individual.
