The 5 stars of the hotels

Hotel establishments can be classified in many ways, as there are urban, beach or rural, for exclusive clients or for conventional tourists, with complementary services or without they. Each establishment normally has a profile general of client. On the other hand, to determine the category of a hotel, a blue badge is used on the door of the establishment and within it a number of stars ranging from one to five are included. The hotels with the highest category have 5 stars, however in recent times steps with 6 and 7 have emerged, as we will see later in the article.

Although this categorization is an international convention, each country has its own system for granting stars to each establishment (in some countries the category is awarded by the state and in others the associations hotels).

General criteria for obtaining a 5-star rating

They are hotels with a minimum number of rooms. Likewise, the size of the rooms and the different units have to reach a certain minimum surface area.

It is necessary for the establishment to offer basic services: air conditioning, telephone, television, box safety and full bathroom in the rooms, a minimum number of elevators, corridors with certain measures, etc.

To the margin of the established minimums, they have complementary services that provide all kinds of comforts to the clients, such as parking, large lounges, leisure areas, room service, à la carte restaurants, Service transport of luggage, etc.

The importance of small details

Regardless of the criteria for granting the 5-star rating, these hotels try to take maximum care of the little details. Thus, the mattresses are of great quality, the bed is made with some special detail, the bedding is changed daily and some services are available for 24 hours.

Some hotels have, in addition to the 5-star category, the GL indication, which means great luxury. In countries like Dubai and Qatar there are six and seven star hotels

Although European and American standards establish that 5 stars are the highest category, some establishments advertise a higher number of stars

As is logical, in these hotels the concept of luxury is pushed to the limit. The client profile is very exclusive, since the price per room can only be paid by a minority.

In these establishments it is common for the client to be transferred in a Rolls Royce or a luxury yacht and that in their room they can have any type of personalized attention.
