The intensity analogy is the literary figure with which the comparison is made between two ideas or concepts, using adjectives that belong to a same semantic field, and in which the comparison is made to a greater or lesser degree or intensity, with respect to the phrase of reference.
This type of analogy is used to express that two related events, or the same event in two moments different, have an action or consequences greater or lesser than those it had in the beginning, or different from what is I expected. It also compares two ideas with each other, emphasizing or minimizing one of them, using ideas or figures that are located within the same semantic field.
Example of intensity analogy:
Child 1: My dad is so strong from here to the moon. (Reference idea)
Child 2: Well, if your dad is so strong from here to the moon, my dad is so strong from here to Jupiter (analogy).
The lazy student treats books as lead (reference idea); The good student appreciates them like gold (analogy).
Because of her ignorance, for Emma studying is torture (Reference idea), On the other hand, for Santiago it is a pleasure (analogy).
