The infantry is that troop that in the militia is characterized by fighting on foot, that is, it is a force combat on foot.
If one reviews the history of any army, the infantry has been mostly and with very few exceptions the main force within the army in question. For example, in ancient times, in the empires of Babylon, Assyria, Egypt and Sumeria, the infantry appeared accompanied by chariots drawn by horses and constituted the main mass of the army. It had warriors armed with spears, shields and swords, on the one hand and on the other by contingents of archers.
Meanwhile, with the to run of the centuries and the consequent evolution, the infantry will go deeper and deeper into their work on land, until they burrow in search of shelters and trenches.
Meanwhile, as regards his displacement and his methodology of action, the infantry usually use all kinds of transport, fight by itself with limited possibilities, using weapons portable or semi portable, or failing that, it can act in combination with some other weapon to increase the chances of success. In the first rows are usually located the soldiers of the
light infantry, which carry very little protection. The light infantry is a type of specialized infantry to penetrate deep within the territory enemy, appearing equipped through light means and has great mobility that will allow it to successfully explore and assault enemy targets. And the armored infantry or also known as mechanized is a type of infantry of relatively new creation (World War I) that is based especially on the introduction of the battle cars or tanks on the battlefields.
Its main reason for being has been to become the support of the traditional foot infantry, although it also serves as the main means of transport of the aforementioned foot infantry in armored vehicles, specially adapted for this purpose: ASCOD or Pizarro.
