Definition of Free Will

The human being possesses a very important gift from the existential point of view: the Liberty.

The human being has free will, that is, freedom of choice in the decision making. In such a way that a mature human being is one who is responsible for his successes and mistakes since the responsibility in making many decisive decisions in personal destiny, they are totally their own and non-transferable.

Freedom is a faculty that is closely linked to another gift as human as knowledge. The intelligence it is the light of the will on which freedom is sustained.

Knowledge is the light of will

Thanks to knowledge, a person can reflect, gather information on a certain matter or ask an opinion from a friend before making a specific decision. Through free will, human beings can do good, in which case it should be pointed out that goodness notably perfects the heart human. But the person can also perform a bad action.

The choice of the good shows the ethical responsibility of that human being who, motivated by his

willpower and ability to overcoming you want to grow as a person.

Freedom conditional on time

Human freedom has limits since it is conditioned to the circumstances of space and time. No human being is free to modify past mistakes since yesterday cannot be changed. The freedom of the person is always linked to the power of now as a field of action.

It is an act of personal responsibility inherent in freedom to be responsible for decision-making and the consequences of acts, but also for the absence of certain actions. There are people who over time regret not having had the courage to make a certain decision in the past. The freedom of the human being can also be conditioned by fear and unsafety.

The freedom of the human being does not mean that the person can achieve everything that is proposed. The person only has influence in those aspects that fall under the scope of her action directly. Therefore, for an effective use of freedom it is also important to differentiate between what depends on oneself and what does not.
