Parish book in which the deaths and burials of the faithful are recorded, and a section of the newspapers or any other means of communication in which the death of a personality is reported accompanied by a review on his career
On the one hand, the obituary is called book parochial, that is, found in parishes or churches, in which deaths and recent burials are noted.
And on the other hand, that's what a classic and popular section of a Newspaper in which it is reported the deaths that occurred in recent times, or failing that, in the case of a prominent and famous person, the medium graphic or audiovisual in question usually makes a brief biographical summary of the deceased person in which he will give an account of his race, your achievements, your personal contingencies, among other salient issues. In other words, the obituary in any of its forms would be something like a record of deaths.
It turns out to be a common practice of many media outlets communication have already prepared some obituaries of prominent personalities who are still alive, but known to be going through a delicate state of health, or failing that, in those cases in which the age of the figure is already advanced.

Of course by definition the obituary should be posthumousThat is the ideal, but occasionally it happens that some obituaries are published either accidentally or intentionally when the main person is still alive.
Some are the result of jokes in very bad taste, that is, they are done intentionally and others come to light as a result of some confusion that arises in some people, the most common are usually by similar names or when the person was close to death and then goes off without being previously rechecked the information of his death.

Difference from the funeral notice
It should be noted that in this last sense, it differs from the classic death notice, popularly known as a funeral notice, and that it is a message that is responsible for to write and pay the same family to honor your deceased relative, either in the face of his recent death or in the face of the compliance of a new anniversary of it.
The objective of the obituary is to announce to the public or to the relatives or relatives of the deceased the death of this so that it way not only to be aware but also to participate in his funeral and come to offer their condolences or accompany their families
In the celebrations of the masses it is common that at a certain moment the priest who officiates them mentions the people who have died recently and that of course they belonged to that ecclesiastical community, that they participated actively, or that they were relatives of some member.
The religious asks for them, for the rest of their souls and also for their relatives so that they can come out of pain and feel more accompanied.
A prayer is also usually dedicated to them.
