Traditionally related to the mythical character of Dracula (being one of the few elements that could kill the vampire if he nailed it just in the heart), the stake actually has other uses and is a much more common element than it may seem. We understand by stake those elements of wood, sticks, which are made with a sharp point so that they can be driven into the I usually.
The stakes are considered to have been created in a beginning by the shepherd human being to help him in his hike since the objective of the same is to be nailed in the floor and thus allow a greater stability to the individual to to walk. This is especially useful in areas where the terrain is difficult to navigate. The stakes are normally made of wood but stakes of other materials such as metal or plastic depending on the needs and interests of each person.
Another objective or utility that is given to the stake has to do with the possibility that it gives to demarcate certain territories in a much easier way. This is particularly used when field studies must be carried out on the ground (whether archaeological, geological, etc.) because they resort to to the small stakes that just sink into the ground to form a grid of threads or ropes and thus be able to better locate each piece of land.
As said, the stake has been popularized thanks to the story of Dracula by which it was established that one of the only ways to kill this vampire was drive a sharp wooden stake into the middle of the heart, since due to the sharpness of the stake, the action and the consequence would be immediate, without giving rise to survive.
