The term lukewarm is an unscientific term used in the language common and colloquial to designate elements that have a temperature moderate, neither hot nor cold and that, therefore, can be more tolerated by the palate because it is not as extreme as any of the other two already mentioned. The idea of lukewarm or lukewarm that an item can have (usually the term applies to food dishes or edible items) can be positive or negative depending on the type of element that is being talked about because while some things may be richer at that temperature, for others the state of lukewarm is a bad thing (for example when you want to drink Water lukewarm or when a soup is warm instead of hot).
The sense of touch allows us to recognize three different types of temperatures, at large traits: the cold, the warm and the hot. The problem with hot and cold temperatures is that they can often be extreme for our sensations and what is lukewarm is always much easier to accept or assimilate in terms of what is sensory. Then, there are other guidelines that have to do more than anything with cultural issues such as those already mentioned: when a soup or a Coffee or other food that is normally consumed hot is lukewarm, although it is better tolerated by the body, it is a negative thing. The same happens with those elements normally consumed cold. Remember that the quality of lukewarm is not scientific since we are not talking about specific figures but rather about sensations.
Another meaning of the term lukewarm, which is related to what was mentioned above, is that of lacking passion or impetus. This adjective can also be applied to people who act in a moderate way, without decision or without passion. While it might seem like something else rational by not resorting to extremes or exaggerated actions, the idea that a person is lukewarm is more related that nothing with the inability to solve things or situations, with the lack of decision, with fear and with the unsafety.
