Popular superstitions are based on the idea that an object, a symbol or a event it has a hidden meaning and it exerts some power or influence over us.
One of the most widespread superstitions is related to the date Tuesday the 13th. Those who believe in its influence consider that day is especially threatening and during it all kinds of misfortunes can occur, since it is a date associated with bad luck.
In Spain and Latin America there is a saying that clearly expresses the fear of this date, in terms of not marrying or embarking. From the Middle Ages Other sayings are also used that refer to Tuesday the thirteenth with a very similar message.
Different interpretations of the remote origin of this superstition
For some, the uncontrolled fear of Tuesday the 13th is related to the God Mars and the number of diners who attended the Last Supper of Jesus Christ. Thus, it must be remembered that the God Mars of the Romans is associated with the idea of death and violence
and, on the other hand, on the day of the Last Supper Jesus Christ was betrayed by Judas, one of his disciples.For others, Tuesday the 13th is related to the tarot, because in this discipline esoteric card number 13 symbolizes death. From this perspective, aversion to Tuesday would also be due to fear for the god Mars.
According to other interpretations, the Fall of Constantinople in 1453 took place on Tuesday the 13th and on that day there was a lunar eclipse and Intense rains and these phenomena caused that the Christian ships that were supposed to help the city could not reach the port of Constantinople.
Two phobic manifestations with identical meaning
The phobia of Tuesday 13 is widespread in Spain and in Latin America and the phobia of Friday the 13th is very popular in the Anglo-Saxon world.
Among the many phobias that exist is trezidavomarthiophobia or phobia for Tuesday the 13th. Those who experience great fear for this date take all kinds of precautions when the dreaded day arrives and this happens on several occasions during the year.
In the Anglo-Saxon world this phobia is called paraskevidekatriaphobia, a term that refers to Friday the 13th. In both cases, people with this conduct phobic feel an uncontrolled and irrational fear of the fateful date.
