Latin prayers
The Latin It is a very old and fundamental language in the evolution of humanity, which completely cuts through the culture of the West. It was the language that was spoken in the Roman Empire, although not many people at that time were literate and could read or write.
There are a large number of phrases that were originally pronounced in Latin and thus crystallized in Western culture, as well as expressions in Latin or latinisms that you use in everyday life.
The importance of Latin
The most significant contributions to law were made in Latin, on which the judicial systems that govern most Western countries today are based. In addition, there are very important contributions to science, medicine and biology thanks to writings in Latin.
Christianity adopted Latin as the language of worship and office, and for a very long time (one could say that until the end of the seventeenth century), masses and other religious events were held only in this idiom. Its status as a “dead language” gives it a kind of immutability, which ensures the faithful transmission of the spiritual legacy of the Gospel.
