The mixed paragraph also called deductive or inductive is one in which the main idea is expressed in the center of it.
In the mixed paragraph secondary ideas are located at the beginning and end of the text, which serve as a complement to the main idea.
On some occasions the mixed paragraph raises a problem citing some data, then the main idea is expressed and at the end the solution to the problem is given and the conclusions are given.
Mixed paragraph example:
“A new type of drug could win the battle against resistant strains of the flu, according to US researchers.
The drug blocks a key enzyme on the surface of the flu virus, preventing it from spreading to other cells. The scientists found that it was effective in mice injected with strains resistant to the two antivirals that currently available on the market to fight the flu, Relenza and Tamiflu, as reported in the publication Science.
Andrew Watts, a co-author of the research and a professor at the University of Bath, said the drug is even more effective on resistant strains than on wild-type viruses. Watts added that, realistically, it could take six to seven years before the medicine is ready to go on sale. "
